Mike read "The Market Wizards" during college and decided he wanted to be a professional trader. He worked in the mutual fund business in Boston for a few years, then the Chicago exchanges called. Asylum Trading™ is not an Investment Adviser as defined by the Investment Advisers Act of 1940. We are an educator and bona fide financial publisher. We do not engage in the business of being paid to provide anyone advice in any form by any means as to the value of securities or the merit of investing or transacting in them.
We will teach you how financial engineering works so you can manage your investments on a DIY basis, but we will not do it for you or help you do it yourself.
This is not a distinction without a difference. We never use the language of an adviser. We never state, "YOU should do THIS in THIS WAY because it is the best course of action for YOU." We will explain how things work until you are comfortable making decisions on your own, but we reject any connection to those decisions.
This is very important because it saves you vast sums in fees compared to traditional investment adviser arrangements based on fiduciary duty. We have no such duty as an educator and publisher. We deal in the facts of financial engineering and do not engage in personalized problem solving. Because we are not subject to regulation by the likes of the SEC, CFTC, FINRA, exchanges, state securities regulators, and the like, we can operate with very low costs we pass on.
